PMRE June Social-June 11, 2009 3-6pm

Our June Social was held at Genie Weisman's home in Patchogue.

A great time was shared among friends with good food & beverages.

Business Call to Order 4:15PM

1.  Andy MacAvoy greeted everyone. He introduced and welcomed two

             2009 retirees to our PMRE membership.  They were Nancy

              Cleary and Nellie Kavendar.

2.  The main order of business was elections of officers for President,

             Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. There were no new

              nominations from the floor.  Claire Siegel nominated the

              entire existing slate of officers to remain.  All accepted.

3.  PMRE received a recognition from AFT for our generous

     contribution to Vote-Cope.

4. Andy MacAvoy discussed the NYSUT RA convention. 

 We were assured that our pensions are without serious problems for 25 years.

The Moratorium on Health Insurance was passed for another year.

The cons of the possible passage of Tier 5 to our retirement system was

made clear.  We were urged to stay active, alert, and ready to fight its

5.  Mary Sayer spoke about the value and importance of supporting PMRE.
